HORTICULTURE FOR HEALTH
Wednesday 10/21, 10/28, 11/4, 6:30pm – 8:30pm
What is Therapeutic Horticulture and how can it benefit you? Find out in this fun three part series. Therapeutic Horticulture has been used for centuries. Today, it is a world wide practice recognized, for all ages, as a tool for achieving social, physical and emotional balance. Anyone may benefit through active or passive involve-ment with plants and plant activities.
Instructor, Beth Hensley, has completed her certificate of merit award for Horticultural Therapy from the Chi-cago Botanic Garden and has several years of experi-ence as a nature educator and teacher. She has worked with Hosparus us-ing Therapeutic Horticul-ture and is engaged in land-scape design and installa-tion.

10/28–Aromatherapy
How can our most powerful of the five senses, smell, alter mood and affect brain activity? We will investigate aromather-apy and the power of scent as we delve into the history and botany of herbs and spices by creating potpourri sachets. Beth will also demonstrate making essential oils and students will take home a vial of essential oil. Prepay-ment and registration before 10/19.
11/4–Simmering Spice Greeting Cards
Autumn is the time of harvest when we celebrate the fruits of our cultivation. We will learn how to make personal handmade cards that will delight the senses and can be given as gifts. Symbolic objects of beauty such as Harvest Basket flower centerpieces will be demonstrated. You will leave with ideas for simple gift giving that will imbue your space with special memo-ries. Prepayment and registration before 10/26.
